Environmental Approach and Priorities

Operational efficiency remains one of the most powerful levers available to aviation to reduce emissions, and we continue to drive progress through fleet modernization, network optimization, disciplined fuel and energy management, and a performance-driven culture across our operations.

Beyond efficiency, we are advancing broader solutions by supporting the scale-up of the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) ecosystem in Latin America, enhancing climate governance and data for credible disclosure, and strengthening resilience to evolving regulations and physical climate risks.

At the same time, we monitor and prepare for evolving transition requirements that may affect airline operations, helping ensure readiness for a changing operating environment.

1. Emissions intensity reflects efficiency per passenger and does not necessarily indicate a reduction in total emissions, which depend on flight volumes
2. including single engine Taxi, APU-Pff, optimized climb and cruise profiles amongst others.

Our Priorities
  • Abra’s priorities focus on contributing to efforts to improve environmental performance in aviation in Latin America while improving operational efficiencies and reducing environmental impact.
  • We drive efficiency through fleet modernization, fuel optimization, and smarter operations, and strengthen governance, capabilities, and data to enable credible climate action.

  • We are preparing for evolving climate-related regulation and supporting the scale-up of lower-carbon aviation solutions. In collaboration with partners, we work to accelerate system-level aviation decarbonization.

  • We also advance broader environmental management practices beyond climate, including circularity, waste reduction, water management, and biodiversity protection.

  • While the Group is taking steps to improve efficiency and reduce emissions intensity, current technologies and operational measures do not eliminate the climate impact of aviation. The effectiveness of initiatives such as sustainable aviation fuels and operational efficiencies varies and is subject to availability, infrastructure, and lifecycle considerations.
